Ambien interactions with other drugs

You may demand a decreased dose of Ambien (Zolpidem) when you take other drugs that draw you drowsy (similar to cold medication, pain tablet, muscle relaxers, and medicine for depression or anxiety). Notify your healthcare professional whenever you’re presently taking any of the following medications.

Previous to using Ambien, tell your doctor of all other drugs you take, especially:

  • Thorazine (chlorpromazine).
  • Sporanox (itraconazole), ketoconazole (Nizoral).
  • Rifadin (rifampin, Rimactane, Rifater).
  • Anti-depressant drugs such as Tofranil (Janimine, Imavate) or Zoloft (sertraline).

This list isn’t accomplished and there can be other medicines that possibly will interact with Zolpidem. Notify your healthcare professional of all prescription and over-the-counter drugs you use. This includes vitamin supplements, minerals, natural drugs, and medicines appointed by another doctor. Don’t begin using a new medicine without notifying your health practitioner.
